A bill to be entitled |

An act relating to Escambia County; authorizing the |

|
adoption of the schedule of rates of per diem and |
4
|
subsistence allowances, transportation expenses, and other |
5
|
expenses established by the United States Government for |
6
|
official county travel; providing for resolution of |
7
|
conflicts with state statutory reimbursement rates; |
8
|
providing applicability; providing an effective date. |

WHEREAS, there have been substantial increases over the |
11
|
years in the costs for housing, food, and transportation |
12
|
incurred by Escambia County employees while traveling on |
13
|
official county business such that employees now are forced to |
14
|
expend their private funds for such travel, which cannot be |
15
|
reimbursed under the current provisions of section 112.061, |
16
|
Florida Statutes, and |
17
|
WHEREAS, it is in the equitable interests of its employee |
18
|
travelers that the Board of County Commissioners of Escambia |
19
|
County be authorized to adopt the schedule of rates of per diem |
20
|
and subsistence allowances, transportation expenses, and other |
21
|
expenses currently provided by the United States Government for |
22
|
federal employee travel, NOW, THEREFORE, |

|
|

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

|
Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Escambia |
27
|
County is hereby authorized to adopt, by ordinance, the schedule |
28
|
of rates of per diem and subsistence allowances, transportation |
29
|
expenses, and other expenses paid by the United States |
30
|
Government to federal employee travelers.
|

|
Section 2. To the extent such federal rate amounts |
32
|
conflict with section 112.061(6), (7), and (8), Florida |
33
|
Statutes, any and all departments, offices, and agencies of the |
34
|
Board of County Commissioners of Escambia County shall be |
35
|
permitted to reimburse at the current reimbursement rate amounts |
36
|
of the United States Government. |

Section 3. All other provisions of section 112.061, |
38
|
Florida Statutes, shall remain applicable to the Board of County |
39
|
Commissioners of Escambia County. |
40
|
Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
