  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Big Bend Historic

  3         Saltwater Paddling Trail; amending s. 260.016,

  4         F.S.; extending the trail from the Suwannee

  5         River to Yankeetown; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section

11  260.016, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

12         260.016  General powers of the department.--

13         (1)  The department may:

14         (e)  Establish, develop, and publicize greenways and

15  trails in a manner that will permit public recreation when

16  appropriate without damaging natural resources. The Big Bend

17  Historic Saltwater Paddling Trail from the St. Marks River to

18  Yankeetown the Suwannee River is hereby designated as part of

19  the Florida Greenways and Trails System.  Additions to this

20  trail may be added by the department from time to time as part

21  of a statewide saltwater circumnavigation trail.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.
