1 A bill to be entitled
2          An act relating to the Consolidated Government of the City
3    of Jacksonville, Duval County; amending ch. 92-341, Laws
4    of Florida, as amended, to authorize prosecution of City
5    of Jacksonville ordinance violations and to provide a
6    method for service of process upon specified officers of
7    the City of Jacksonville; providing an effective date.
8         
9          Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
10         
11          Section 1. Sections 12.07 and 12.11 of Article 12 of
12    chapter 92-341, Laws of Florida, as amended, are amended to
13    read:
14 ARTICLE 12. JUDICIARY
15          Section 12.07. State Attorney.--The office of thestate
16    attorney of the fourth judicial circuit in and for Duval County
17    shall continue, and all general and special laws applicable
18    thereto shall continue in full force and effect, except as
19    herein expressly provided to the contrary. The office of the
20    state attorney of the fourth judicial circuit in and for Duval
21    County is authorized to prosecute all City of Jacksonville
22    ordinance violations in the county court.
23          Section 12.11. Service of process on General
24    Counsel.--Supplementing the provisions of section 48.111,
25    Florida Statutes, a copy of all process to be served upon the
26    City of Jacksonville, or any appointed or elected official or
27    constitutional officer of the City of Jacksonville in the
28    official or officer’s official capacity, or upon any independent
29    agency of the City of Jacksonville, shall also be served upon
30    the General Counsel, a Deputy General Counsel, or an employee of
31    the General Counsel designated and authorized to accept service.
32    The service required by this section shall be effected in
33    accordance with section 48.021, Florida Statutes, or by
34    registered or certified mail.Two term limit.--No person elected
35    and qualified for two consecutive full terms as Clerk of the
36    Court shall be eligible for election as Clerk of the Court for
37    the next succeeding term. The two-term limitation shall apply to
38    any full term which began in 1992 or thereafter.
39          Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
