  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to convention and visitors

  3         bureaus; providing prerequisites an

  4         organization must fulfill before representing

  5         to the public that it is an official Florida

  6         convention and visitors bureau, visitors

  7         bureau, tourist development council, or welcome

  8         center; providing that organizations meeting

  9         these criteria may receive tourist-development

10         tax revenues under s. 125.0104, F.S.; providing

11         an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14  

15         Section 1.  Official visitors bureau, tourist

16  development council, or welcome center; criteria; eligibility

17  to receive tax revenue.--

18         (1)  Before an organization may represent to the

19  general public that it is an official Florida convention and

20  visitors bureau, visitors bureau, tourist development council,

21  or welcome center:

22         (a)  The organization must be the principal

23  organization in the county which is organized to solicit and

24  service conventions and other types of visitors; and

25         (b)  The board of county commissioners must have

26  defined and authorized the organization as the representative

27  organization exercising those functions.

28         (2)  An organization that meets the criteria set forth

29  in subsection (1) is eligible to receive tax revenues under

30  section 125.0104, Florida Statutes.

 1         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

 2  law.
