Transportation Authority; amending s. 343.63, F.S.; |

revising membership of the governing board of the |

authority; providing an effective date. |

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
|

|
|
|

|
Section 1. Subsections (2) and (3) of section 343.63, |
|
10
|
Florida Statutes, are amended to read: |
|
11
|
343.63 Central Florida Regional Transportation |
|
12
|
Authority.-- |
|
13
|
(2) The governing board of the authority shall consist of |
|
14
|
five11 voting members, and 1 nonvoting memberas follows: |
|
15
|
(a) The chairs of thecounty commissions of Seminole, |
|
16
|
Orange, and Osceola Counties, or another member of the |
|
17
|
commission designated by the county chair, shall each serve as a |
|
18
|
elect a commissioner as that commission'srepresentative on the |
|
19
|
board. The commissioner must be a member of the county |
|
20
|
commission when elected andfor the full extent of his or her |
|
21
|
term. The terms of the county commissioners on the governing |
|
22
|
board of the authority shall be 2 years. |
|

|
(b) The mayormayors of the citycities of Altamonte |
|
24
|
Springs, Orlando, or a member of the Orlando City Council |
|
25
|
designated by theand Kissimmee, or a member of each city |
|
26
|
commission designated by each mayor, shall serve as a |
|
27
|
representativea term of 2 years on the board for the full |
|
28
|
extent of his or her term. |
|

|
(c) The Governor shall appoint five members to the board. |
|
30
|
Two of the members shall be residents of Orange County, one |
|
31
|
member shall be a resident of Seminole County, one member shall |
|
32
|
be a resident of Osceola County, and one member shall be a |
|
33
|
resident of the City of Orlando. All five members shall serve a |
|
34
|
term of 4 years.

(c)(d)The Secretary of Transportation shall appoint the |
|
36
|
district secretary, or his or her designee, for the district |
|
37
|
within which the area served by the authority is located and |
|
38
|
this member shall be a votingnonvotingmember. |
|
39
|
(3) A vacancy during a term shall be filled by the |
|
40
|
respective appointing authorityin the same manner as the |
|
41
|
original appointment and only for the balance of the unexpired |
|
42
|
term. |

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
