2	An act relating to service of process against the Florida
3	Automobile Joint Underwriting Association; amending s.
4	627.311, F.S.; specifying that the Florida Automobile
5	Joint Underwriting Association appoints the Chief
6	Financial Officer as agent for service of process
7	purposes; requiring the association to file certain
8	information with the Department of Financial Services;
9	providing a limitation relating to method of service of
10	process; providing an effective date.

12	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14	Section 1. Subsection (6) is added to section 627.311,
15	Florida Statutes, to read:
16	627.311 Joint underwriters and joint reinsurers.--
17	(6)(a) The Florida Automobile Joint Underwriting
18	Association created under this section shall be deemed to have
19	appointed the Chief Financial Officer and his or her successors
20	in office as its agent to receive service of all legal process
21	issued against it in any civil action or proceeding in this
22	state. Process so served shall be valid and binding upon the
23	insurer.
24	(b) The association shall file with the Department of
25	Financial Services a designation of the name and address of the
26	person to whom process against it served upon the Chief
27	Financial Officer is to be forwarded. The association may change
28	the designation at any time by a new filing.
29	(c) Service of process upon the Chief Financial Officer as
30	the association’s agent pursuant to such an appointment shall be
31	the sole method of service of process upon the association.
32	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
