1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the title insurer and title insurance
3	agency administrative surcharge; amending s. 624.501,
4	F.S.; deleting the surcharge; providing an effective date.

6	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

8	Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (27) of section
9	624.501, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
10	624.501 Filing, license, appointment, and miscellaneous
11	fees.--The department shall collect in advance, and persons so
12	served shall pay to it in advance, fees, licenses, and
13	miscellaneous charges as follows:
14	(27) Title insurance agents:
15	(e) Title insurer and title insurance agency
16	administrative surcharge:
17	1. On or before January 30 of each calendar year, each
18	title insurer shall pay to the department for each licensed
19	title insurance agency appointed by the title insurer and for
20	each retail office of the insurer on January 1 of that calendar
21	year an administrative surcharge of $200.00.
22	2. On or before January 30 of each calendar year, each
23	licensed title insurance agency shall remit to the department an
24	administrative surcharge of $200.00.

26	The administrative surcharge may be used solely to defray the
27	costs to the department in its examination or audit of title
28	insurance agencies and retail offices of title insurers and to
29	gather title insurance data for statistical purposes in its
30	regulation of title insurance.
31	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
