A resolution honoring the life and accomplishments of |

Isabell Queen Williams. |

|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams was born and raised in Dade |
6
|
County, Florida, educated in Dade County public schools, and |
7
|
graduated from Miami Northwestern High School in 1961, and |
8
|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams graduated in 1966 from |
9
|
Bethune-Cookman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in |
10
|
English and later obtained a Master of Science degree and an |
11
|
Educational Specialist degree from Nova University, and |
12
|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams worked in the Broward |
13
|
County School System from 1966 to 1997, a period of 31 years, |
14
|
during which time she served as classroom teacher, guidance |
15
|
counselor, adult education instructor, and assistant principal, |
16
|
and |
17
|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams also worked as a counselor |
18
|
and supervisor in the Metropolitan Dade County Summer Youth |
19
|
Program from 1975 to 1984, was a co-owner of Royal Funeral |
20
|
Services in Miami, and operated RSVP Consultant Services, and |
21
|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams was actively engaged in |
22
|
public service through involvement with Democratic politics, |
23
|
working as a legislative assistant to State Representative |
24
|
Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall and in a similar capacity for former |
25
|
State Senator Kendrick Meek, and |
26
|
WHEREAS, throughout her adult life until her untimely death |
27
|
on July 27, 2001, Isabell Queen Williams was a faithful servant |
28
|
of God, working tirelessly and selflessly in her church, her |
29
|
sorority, and her community to help others acquire the |
30
|
education, training, skills, and resources needed to succeed in |
31
|
life, and |
32
|
WHEREAS, Isabell Queen Williams was an obedient daughter, a |
33
|
faithful sister, a dedicated wife, a caring mother, a steadfast |
34
|
friend, and a remarkably accomplished person in every part of |
35
|
her life who exemplified the ideals on which Delta Sigma Theta |
36
|
Sorority, Inc., was founded, modeling sisterhood in her personal |
37
|
and professional relationships with other sorority members, |
38
|
achieving high scholastic standards, and involving herself |
39
|
actively and responsibly in public affairs, NOW, THEREFORE, |

|
|

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

|
Florida: |

That the House of Representatives pauses in its |
45
|
deliberations to remember and honor the life, work, and |
46
|
outstanding accomplishments of Isabell Queen Williams in the |
47
|
education profession, in service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, |
48
|
Inc., in support of her church, and in social action and public |
49
|
service to her community, the State of Florida, and the Bahamas. |
