A resolution honoring the Mandarin Athletic Association |

WHEREAS, the Mandarin Athletic Association Wildcats |

|
finished their 2002 season with a 15-0 record, to become the top |
7
|
Pop Warner Junior Midget Division football team in the nation, |
8
|
and |
9
|
WHEREAS, at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando on |
10
|
December 14, the Mandarin Wildcats won the national championship |
11
|
in a convincing 30-16 victory over the Palo Alto, California, |
12
|
Knights, and |
13
|
WHEREAS, after completing an 8-0 regular season in the |
14
|
Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Conference, the 23-member hard- |
15
|
fighting team of 12 and 13 year olds marched steadily on to the |
16
|
Southeast Regional championship game and from there to the |
17
|
national tournament that proved them the nation's championship |
18
|
team, and |
19
|
WHEREAS, Wildcats head coach Scott Hughes credits the |
20
|
winning season to the team spirit of the players, noting that in |
21
|
every game a different person seemed to step up and take |
22
|
advantage of a particular opportunity as it was presented, NOW, |
23
|
THEREFORE, |

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

That it is with great pride that the Members of the House |

of Representatives congratulate the Mandarin Athletic |

|
Association Wildcats National Champions and recognize their |

|
drive and hard work, the leadership of their coaches, and the |

|
backing of their supporting members. |

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
34
|
presented to head coach Scott Hughes, to each assistant coach, |
35
|
and to each member of the Mandarin Athletic Association Wildcats |
36
|
as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein. |
