2	A resolution recognizing the place of the SS American
3	Victory in history.

5	WHEREAS, the SS American Victory, a victory class ship
6	built in 1945, served American and Allied troops in World War
7	II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and
8	WHEREAS, the SS American Victory represents the United
9	States merchant fleet, which transported 85 percent of the
10	troops, ammunition, and supplies used to support the Allied war
11	effort in both the European and Pacific theaters, thus playing a
12	major role in winning World War II, and
13	WHEREAS, victory ships contributed greatly to the
14	resurgence of American waterborne commerce after World War II,
15	carried goods in support of the Marshall Plan, and were used to
16	supply United States and Allied forces in Korea and Vietnam, and
17	WHEREAS, the SS American Victory now serves as the American
18	Victory Mariners Memorial and Museum Ship in Tampa, NOW,
19	THEREFORE,

21	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
22	Florida:

24	That the House of Representatives gratefully acknowledges
25	the role of the SS American Victory and her sister ships in
26	striving for and maintaining the peace of a free world and
27	proudly takes note of the ship in its present capacity as the
28	American Victory Mariners Memorial and Museum Ship in Tampa.
