2	A resolution declaring March 27, 2003, "Florida Space
3	Industry Day."

5	WHEREAS, Florida has been the world’s premier gateway to
6	space for human exploration, national defense, and commerce for
7	more than fifty years, and
8	WHEREAS, Florida’s space industry is a statewide
9	enterprise, providing high-technology, high-paying jobs in
10	fields including manufacturing, technology development,
11	services, and space tourism, and
12	WHEREAS, Florida’s military space programs develop and
13	deliver into orbit satellites that enable intelligence
14	gathering, national defense, and precision delivery of force,
15	and
16	WHEREAS, universities throughout Florida are performing
17	leading-edge research and technology development in a rapidly
18	expanding number of fields, and
19	WHEREAS, Florida educators are applying space education to
20	create new opportunities for learning, discovery, and inspiring
21	the next explorers, and
22	WHEREAS, Florida’s space community is working tirelessly to
23	overcome the loss of the Columbia and her crew in order to
24	safely resume human space flight, NOW, THEREFORE,

26	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
27	Florida:

29	That the Florida House of Representatives declares March
30	27, 2003, "Florida Space Industry Day."
31	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Florida House of
32	Representatives commends Florida’s space industry, federal,
33	state, and private organizations, and educators for their
34	contributions to the state’s economy, national defense,
35	exploration, and education.
