1	House Resolution
2	A resolution honoring the Florida National Guard and
3	designating April 1, 2003, as "Florida National Guard
4	Day."

6	WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard is the military arm of
7	the Governor and the people of the great State of Florida, and
8	WHEREAS, whenever there is a crisis or an emergency, the
9	Florida National Guard stands ready to immediately respond to a
10	call from the Governor, and
11	WHEREAS, the Florida Air National Guard deployed on
12	September 11, 2001, with Operation Noble Eagle for the purpose
13	of protecting the skies throughout the great State of Florida,
14	and are still on duty, and
15	WHEREAS, other elements of the Florida National Guard
16	deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom, to the
17	Philippines, and to the Central Command Area of Operation, and
18	are still on duty, and
19	WHEREAS, elements of the Florida Army National Guard
20	deployed after September 11, 2001, in response to our national
21	disaster with Operation American Rescue, Operation Safe Sky, and
22	Operation Safe Harbor, and
23	WHEREAS, over 5,000 men and women of the Florida National
24	Guard have deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the
25	largest deployment of the Florida National Guard since World War
26	II, and
27	WHEREAS, that the men and women of the Florida National
28	Guard answered this call without reservation is a testament to
29	the recognition they so richly deserve for their long history of
30	successful and faithful service in the past, and
31	WHEREAS, just as in the past, the soldiers and airmen of
32	the Florida National Guard stand ready to meet any crisis the
33	future may hold, NOW, THEREFORE,

35	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
36	Florida:

38	That the House of Representatives recognizes the true and
39	faithful service of the soldiers and airmen of the Florida
40	National Guard.
41	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives
42	recognizes the significant contributions and consistent
43	readiness of the Florida National Guard by designating April 1,
44	2003, as Florida National Guard Day in the State of Florida.
45	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
46	presented to Major General Douglas Burnett, Adjutant General of
47	Florida, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
