| 2 | A resolution recognizing Goodwill Industries' | ||
| 3 | contributions to Florida's citizens and its economy. | ||

| 5 | WHEREAS, founded in 1902, Goodwill Industries is the | ||
| 6 | largest nonprofit provider of employment and training services | ||
| 7 | in the nation, affording employment, job-training, and career- | ||
| 8 | service opportunities to people with disabilities, as well as to | ||
| 9 | those with disadvantages such as welfare dependency, illiteracy, | ||
| 10 | criminal history, and homelessness, and | ||
| 11 | WHEREAS, during its 101-year existence, Goodwill has helped | ||
| 12 | millions of people through its programs and services, and, in | ||
| 13 | 2002 alone, over 90,000 Floridians participated in the | ||
| 14 | employment and training offered by Goodwill and more than 20,000 | ||
| 15 | obtained community employment, and | ||
| 16 | WHEREAS, the Florida Goodwill Association, comprised of | ||
| 17 | nine Goodwill member organizations located throughout the state, | ||
| 18 | collectively generated more than $240 million in earnings for | ||
| 19 | individuals placed in community employment, resulting in a | ||
| 20 | significant contribution to the state's economic base and tax | ||
| 21 | revenues, NOW, THEREFORE, | ||

| 23 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of | ||
| 24 | Florida: | ||
| 25 | |||
| 26 | That the House of Representatives enthusiastically | ||
| 27 | recognizes the Florida Goodwill Association and commends its | ||
| 28 | offering of the many invaluable programs that have expanded | ||
| 29 | opportunities for and occupational capabilities of thousands of | ||
| 30 | Floridians. | ||
| 31 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be | ||
| 32 | presented to Dennis Clark, President of the Florida Goodwill | ||
| 33 | Association, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed | ||
| 34 | herein. | ||
