A resolution recognizing Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. |

|
WHEREAS, the Florida thoroughbred breeding industry has |
5
|
come to symbolize excellence throughout the thoroughbred world, |
6
|
and |
7
|
WHEREAS, four of the 600 thoroughbred breeding farms |
8
|
located in Florida were ranked in the top five in North America |
9
|
for the year 2002, and |
10
|
WHEREAS, Florida's abundance of natural resources, |
11
|
limestone-enriched soil and water, and favorable climate are |
12
|
considered ideal for breeding and training thoroughbred |
13
|
racehorses, and |
14
|
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mangurian, Jr., developer of Mockingbird |
15
|
Farm in Ocala, has not only been the leading breeder in North |
16
|
America for the last four consecutive years, with earnings of |
17
|
$10,851,459, $13,687,487, $18,875,766, and $16,694,893, |
18
|
respectively, since 1999, but was also the leading breeder by |
19
|
number of individual stakes wins, with 24 in 1999 and 2001 and |
20
|
26 in 2002, and |
21
|
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mangurian, Jr., has twice been recognized |
22
|
as the National Breeder of the Year by the Thoroughbred |
23
|
Breeders' and Owners' Association, has been a member of The |
24
|
Jockey Club, vice president of the Ocala Breeders' Sales |
25
|
Company, and an officer and director of the Florida Thoroughbred |
26
|
Breeders' and Owners' Association, and was named Florida Breeder |
27
|
of the Year six times, NOW, THEREFORE, |

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

Florida: |

That the House of Representatives recognizes Harry T. |

Mangurian, Jr., for his outstanding accomplishments and |
34
|
contributions to the Florida thoroughbred industry and to the |
35
|
State of Florida. |

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |

|
presented to Harry T. Mangurian, Jr., as a tangible token of the |
38
|
sentiments expressed herein. |
