1 House Resolution
2          A resolution honoring J. Dennis Sexton, former President
3    and CEO of All Children's Hospital.
4         
5          WHEREAS, employed in 1971 as Director of Development and
6    Community Relations, in 1973 J. Dennis Sexton was named
7    President and CEO of All Children's Hospital, Inc., the leading
8    children's hospital in West Central Florida, providing specialty
9    and subspecialty pediatric care, and
10          WHEREAS, from year-end 1972 through his retirement at the
11    end of 2002, Dennis Sexton was responsible for growth of the
12    hospital as represented by increases in gross revenues from
13    $1,900,000 to $389,000,000; in the number of employees from 165
14    to 2,115; in inpatient admissions from 3,931 to 8,768; and in
15    outpatient visits from 12,379 to 199,610, and
16          WHEREAS, Dennis Sexton was instrumental in winning
17    legislative matched funding in a combined dollar value of
18    $30,758,063 for Chairs dedicated to pediatric research and
19    worked to establish clinics for children and families in
20    Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota, Lee, and Citrus
21    Counties, and
22          WHEREAS, a member of the Florida Hospital Cost Containment
23    Board, the Florida Perinatal Advisory Council, Children’s
24    Medical Services Pediatric Network Advisory Council, the
25    Pediatric Standards Advisory Council, the Campus Advisory Board
26    of the University of South Florida, and the Children’s Miracle
27    Network Board, Dennis Sexton was also a member and Chairman of
28    the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Children’s
29    Hospitals and Related Institutions, the association's Council on
30    Public Policy, and the Child Health Corporation of America, and
31          WHEREAS, J. Dennis Sexton retired on January 3, 2003, after
32    31 years of dedicated and loyal service to All Children’s
33    Hospital, leaving to the children of Florida and to the nation a
34    legacy of improved pediatric health care in the areas of
35    treatment, teaching, and research, NOW, THEREFORE,
36         
37          Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
38    Florida:

40          That the House of Representative recognizes J. Dennis
41    Sexton for his 31 years of exemplary service and leadership to
42    All Children's Hospital and congratulates him on his retirement.
43          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
44    presented to J. Dennis Sexton as a tangible token of the
45    sentiments expressed herein.
