| 3 | Corporal Armando Ariel Gonzalez, a fallen American hero. | ||

| 5 | WHEREAS, Armando Ariel Gonzalez left Cuba on a raft in | ||
| 6 | 1995, bound for Miami with his father and younger brother, and | ||
| 7 | settled with his family in Hialeah, where he attended Miami-Dade | ||
| 8 | Community College and learned to speak English, and | ||
| 9 | WHEREAS, roughly two and one-half years ago, Armando | ||
| 10 | Gonzalez enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and soon | ||
| 11 | rose to Corporal as a member of a unit based in Beaufort, South | ||
| 12 | Carolina, and | ||
| 13 | WHEREAS, seven months ago, Corporal Gonzalez married Liud | ||
| 14 | Mila Gonzalez, the love of his life, and was eagerly | ||
| 15 | anticipating the birth of the couple's first child, and | ||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Corporal Gonzalez, a driver assigned to Marine | ||
| 17 | Wing Support Squadron 273, Marine Wing Support Group 27, 2nd | ||
| 18 | Marine Aircraft Wing, stationed at Logistics Supply Area Viper | ||
| 19 | in Iraq, was crushed to death when a commercial refueling truck | ||
| 20 | under which he was working collapsed, and | ||
| 21 | WHEREAS, the April 14, 2003, death of Corporal Armando | ||
| 22 | Gonzalez, 25, was the first suffered by the Beaufort base and | ||
| 23 | the first of the Iraqi conflict known to have been inflicted | ||
| 24 | upon a resident of the City of Hialeah in Miami-Dade County, | ||
| 25 | NOW, THEREFORE, | ||

| 27 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of | ||
| 28 | Florida: | ||
| 29 | |||
| 30 | That the House of Representatives honors the memory of | ||
| 31 | United States Marine Corporal Armando Ariel Gonzalez and joins | ||
| 32 | his wife, family members, friends, and community in mourning the | ||
| 33 | untimely death of a fallen American hero. | ||
| 34 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be | ||
| 35 | presented to Mrs. Liud Mila Gonzalez and her as-yet unborn child | ||
| 36 | as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein. | ||
