A resolution honoring Mrs. Marcia Stone. |
3
4
WHEREAS, Marcia Stone has been a beloved teacher at Miami's |
5
Village Green Elementary School for 35 years, having begun her |
6
outstanding career in education with the opening of the school's |
7
doors in 1963, and |
8
WHEREAS, although qualified by a bachelors degree in |
9
elementary education from the University of Miami and a masters |
10

11
inherent love for children, her desire to share knowledge and |
12
foster creativity in her students, and her ability to encourage, |
13
motivate, and instill in them confidence to succeed that makes |
14
Mrs. Stone a teacher in the truest sense of the word, and |
15
WHEREAS, the recipient of numerous recognitions and awards, |
16
this 2002 Village Green Elementary Teacher of the Year treasures |
17
most dearly the smile of a child she's teaching, the light in |
18
eyes that suddenly grasp an illusive concept, the "thank you" of |
19
a former student, or the warmth in the voice of one who proudly |
20
introduces her with the words "she was my teacher," and |
21
WHEREAS, Mrs. Stone has given of her time and energy to |
22
many organizations and causes, both within and outside the |
23
school system, a very few of which include her participation as |
24
a valued member of the Parent Teachers Association during her |
25
entire tenure at Village Green Elementary, her efforts in |
26
fundraising and as sponsor of various activities, her meetings |
27
with countless parents in groups as well as singly in order to |
28
help them help their children, and as a participant in |
29
associations that lend their support to schools and hospitals |
30
worldwide, and |
31
WHEREAS, after more than three decades of devoting her life |
32
to two generations of students, Marcia Stone has elected to |
33
retire following the graduation of the 2003 Fifth Grade Class of |
34
Village Green Elementary School, a move that will surely leave a |
35
monumental void in the lives of students, parents, teachers, and |
36
staff who have been blessed by her presence, NOW, THEREFORE, |
37
38
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
