13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 53, between lines 23 and 24,
15  
16  insert:  
17         Section 30.  Subsection (1) of section 99.061, Florida
18  Statutes, is amended to read:
19         99.061  Method of qualifying for nomination or election
20  to federal, state, county, or district office.--
21         (1)  The provisions of any special act to the contrary
22  notwithstanding, each person seeking to qualify for nomination
23  or election to a federal, state, or multicounty district
24  office, other than election to a judicial office as defined in
25  chapter 105 or the office of school board member, shall file
26  his or her qualification papers with, and pay the qualifying
27  fee, which shall consist of the filing fee and election
28  assessment, and party assessment, if any has been levied, to,
29  the Department of State, or qualify by the alternative method
30  with the Department of State, at any time after noon of the
31  1st day for qualifying, which shall be as follows:  (a) the

SENATE AMENDMENT Bill No. SB 10-B Amendment No. ___ Barcode 290414 1 120th day prior to the first primary, but not later than noon 2 of the 116th day prior to the date of the first primary, for 3 persons seeking to qualify for nomination or election to 4 federal office, except that where a candidate for federal 5 office is also a candidate for President of the United States, 6 or has been a candidate for President of the United States 7 during the calendar year, qualifying for such federal office 8 shall begin on the 120th day prior to the first primary and 9 end on noon of the 29th day prior to the date of the first 10 primary or on the Monday following the death, resignation, or 11 withdrawal of such candidate from the federal race for which 12 he or she has qualified, whichever occurs earlier; and (b) 13 noon of the 50th day prior to the first primary, but not later 14 than noon of the 46th day prior to the date of the first 15 primary, for persons seeking to qualify for nomination or 16 election to a state or multicounty district office. 17 18 19 ================ T I T L E A M E N D M E N T =============== 20 And the title is amended as follows: 21 On page 4, line 12, after the semicolon 22 23 insert: 24 amending s. 99.061, F.S.; modifying qualifying 25 periods for certain federal offices; 26 27 28 29 30 31 2 8:19 PM 06/17/03 s0010B.ee20.0a
