1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to pugilistic exhibitions; amending s.
3	548.006, F.S.; requiring any amateur boxing, kickboxing,
4	or mixed martial arts match held in this state to be
5	sanctioned by a sanctioning body approved by the Florida
6	State Boxing Commission; amending s. 548.007, F.S.,
7	relating to applicability of ch. 548, F.S., to amateur
8	matches and certain other matches or events, to conform;
9	amending s. 548.008, F.S.; increasing the penalties for
10	participating in or promoting a professional or amateur
11	toughman or badman match; providing for construction of
12	the act in pari materia with laws enacted during the 2003
13	Regular Session or the 2003 Special Session A of the
14	Legislature; providing an effective date.

16	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

18	Section 1. Subsection (4) is added to section 548.006,
19	Florida Statutes, to read:
20	548.006 Power of commission to control pugilistic contests
21	and exhibitions; certification of competitiveness of mixed
22	martial arts and kickboxing matches.--
23	(4) Any amateur boxing, kickboxing, or mixed martial arts
24	match held in this state must be sanctioned by a sanctioning
25	body approved by the commission.
26	Section 2. Section 548.007, Florida Statutes, is amended
27	to read:
28	548.007 Applicability of act to amateur matches and
29	certain other matches or events.--With the exception of ss.
30	548.006(4) ands.548.008, ss. 548.001-548.079 do not apply to:
31	(1) Any match in which the participants are amateurs;
32	(2) Any match conducted or sponsored by a university,
33	college, or secondary school if all the participants are
34	students regularly enrolled in the institution;
35	(3) Any match conducted or sponsored by a nationally
36	chartered veterans' organization registered with the state;
37	(4) Any match conducted or sponsored by any company or
38	detachment of the Florida National Guard; or
39	(5) Any official Olympic event.
40	Section 3. Subsection (2) of section 548.008, Florida
41	Statutes, is amended to read:
42	548.008 Toughman and badman competition prohibited.--
43	(2) Any person participating in or promoting a
44	professional or amateur toughman or badman match commitsis
45	guilty of a felonymisdemeanor of the thirdseconddegree,
46	punishable as provided in s. 775.082,or s. 775.083, or s.
47	775.084.
48	Section 4. If any law amended by this act was also amended
49	by a law enacted at the 2003 Regular Session or the 2003 Special
50	Session A of the Legislature, such laws shall be construed as if
51	they had been enacted at the same session of the Legislature,
52	and full effect shall be given to each if possible.
53	Section 5. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
