14 On page 149, between lines 20 and 21,

16 insert:
17 Section 74. Subsection (7) of section 456.013, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 456.013 Department; general licensing provisions.--
20 (7) The boards, or the department when there is no
21 board, shall require the completion of a 2-hour course
22 relating to prevention of medical errors as part of the
23 licensure and renewal process. The 2-hour course shall count
24 towards the total number of continuing education hours
25 required for the profession. The course shall be approved by
26 the board or department, as appropriate, and shall include a
27 study of root-cause analysis, error reduction and prevention,
28 and patient safety. If the course is being offered by a
29 facility licensed pursuant to chapter 395 for its employees,
30 the board may approve up to 1 hour of the 2-hour course to be
31 specifically related to error reduction and prevention methods

1 used in that facility. The Board of Medicine and the Board of
2 Osteopathic Medicine shall also require as a condition of
3 licensure and license renewal that each physician and
4 physician assistant complete a 2-hour board-approved
5 continuing education course relating to the five most
6 misdiagnosed conditions, as determined by the board, during
7 the previous biennium. This continuing education course shall
8 count towards the total number of continuing education hours
9 required for those physicians and physician assistants.

18 insert:
19 amending s. 456.013, F.S.; requiring, as a

23 to misdiagnosed conditions;
