Between line(s) 1589 and 1590, insert: |

Section 31. Effective upon this act becoming a law, |
|

|
subsections (7) and (9) of section 106.08, Florida Statutes, are |
|
19
|
renumbered as subsections (8) and (10), respectively, subsection |
|
20
|
(8) is renumbered as subsection (9) and amended, and a new |
|
21
|
subsection (7) is added to said section, to read: |
|

|
106.08 Contributions; limitations on.-- |
|
23
|
(7) A member of the Legislature may neither solicit nor |
|
24
|
accept any contribution during any legislative session on the |
|
25
|
member's own behalf, on behalf of a political party, or on |
|
26
|
behalf of a candidate for the house of the Legislature of the |
|
27
|
member; however, a member may contribute to the member's own |
|
28
|
campaign.
|
|
29
|
(9)(8) Except when otherwise provided in subsection (8) |
|
30
|
(7), any person who knowingly and willfully violates any |
|
31
|
provision of this section shall, in addition to any other |
|
32
|
penalty prescribed by this chapter, pay to the state a sum equal |
|
33
|
to twice the amount contributed in violation of this chapter. |
|
34
|
Each campaign treasurer shall pay all amounts contributed in |
|
35
|
violation of this section to the state for deposit in the |
|
36
|
General Revenue Fund. |
