public school, college, and university that offers degrees in |

medicine, nursing, and allied health shall work with the Agency |

|
for Health Care Administration to develop bilingual, multimedia |
22
|
methods for communicating the risks of treatment options for |
23
|
medical procedures. Such materials shall be provided to patients |
24
|
and their families in an effort to educate them and to obtain |
25
|
the informed consent to prescribe a treatment procedure. The |
26
|
agency shall develop a list of treatment procedures based on |
27
|
significance of risk and frequency of performance. |

Section 48. Section 1005.07, Florida Statutes, is created |

|
to read: |

|
1005.07 Patient safety instructional requirements.--Every |
31
|
nonpublic school, college, and university that offers degrees in |
32
|
medicine, nursing, and allied health shall include in the |
33
|
curricula applicable to such degrees material on patient safety, |
34
|
including patient safety improvement. Materials shall include, |
35
|
but need not be limited to, effective communication and |
36
|
teamwork; epidemiology of patient injuries and medical errors; |
37
|
vigilance, attention, and fatigue; checklists and inspections; |
38
|
automation and technological and computer support; psychological |
39
|
factors in human error; and reporting systems. |
