16	Section 46. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to
17	the contrary, in any medical malpractice injury claim involving
18	a contingency fee, the claimant is entitled to receive no less
19	than 70 percent of the first $250,000 of the total amount of
20	damages, exclusive of reasonable and customary costs, determined
21	by judgment, settlement, or otherwise and regardless of the
22	number of defendants. The claimant is entitled to 100 percent of
23	all such damages.
