Amendment (with directory and title amendments) |
15
Between line(s) 1289 and 1290, insert: |
16
Section 29. Effective 2 years after the effective date of |
17
this act, each insurer issuing policies of medical malpractice |
18
insurance in this state shall reduce the rates for policies |
19
issued to hospitals by at least 25 percent of the rate in effect |
20
for hospitals on the effective date of this act and for policies |
21
issued to persons licensed under chapter 458 or chapter 459, |
22
Florida Statutes, by at least 30 percent of the rate in effect |
23
for such persons on the effective date of this act, unless such |

reduction would result in rates that are inadequate for the |

insurer to cover projected claims. Further, prior to the |
26
reduction required by this section, the rates of all such |
27
policies may not be increased to any rate higher than the rate |
28
in effect on March 17, 2003. |
