14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 3, between lines 16 and 17,
16  
17  insert:  
18         Section 2.  (a) All students subject to mandatory
19  retention must be provided two opportunities to take approved
20  alternative assessments to the FCAT.  The second of these
21  testing opportunities must take place after completion of the
22  student's school's summer intensive reading camp, if the
23  school offers such a camp, or after other remediation is
24  offered to the student.
25          (b) Required scores for purposes of student promotion
26  on alternative assessments to the FCAT may not exceed the
27  median scaled score of all students within a grade level who
28  have taken such alternative assessment.
