Amendment (with title amendment) |

Remove line(s) 2588-2654, and insert: |

|
(8) Effective 2 years after the effective date of this |
17
|
act, each insurer issuing policies of medical malpractice |
18
|
insurance in this state shall reduce the rates for policies |
19
|
issued to hospitals by at least 25 percent of the rate in effect |
20
|
for hospitals on the effective date of this act and for policies |
21
|
issued to persons licensed under chapter 458 or chapter 459 by |
22
|
at least 30 percent of the rate in effect for such persons on |
23
|
the effective date of this act, unless such reduction would |
24
|
result in rates that are inadequate for the insurer to cover |
25
|
projected claims. Further, prior to the reduction required by |
26
|
this subsection, the rates of all such policies may not be |
27
|
increased to any rate higher than the rate in effect on March |
28
|
17, 2003. |
