United States Championship Team. |

WHEREAS, on August 23, 2003, at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in |

Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the East Boynton Beach Little League |

|
Team won the United States Championship 9-2 against New England |
8
|
in an outstanding display of teamwork and sportsmanship, and |
9
|
WHEREAS, the East Boynton Beach team is the first from |
10
|
South Florida to make it to the Little League World Series in |
11
|
Williamsport and the twentieth team from Florida to do so, and |
12
|
WHEREAS, the exemplary conduct of the team members, Michael |
13
|
Broad, Richie DeJesus, Cody Emerson, Jordan Irene, Patrick |
14
|
Mullen, R.J. Neal, Matt Overton, Ricky Sabatino, Benny Townend, |
15
|
Devon Travis, and Andrew Weaver, was so extraordinary in the |
16
|
world of competitive sports that they captivated the hearts of |
17
|
baseball fans across the country, and |
18
|
WHEREAS, the team had been successfully prepared for the |
19
|
competition by its coaches, Kenny Emerson, Joe Irene, and Tony |
20
|
Travis, who were enthusiastically backed by parents and |
21
|
volunteers who worked diligently behind the scenes to support |
22
|
the team’s efforts, NOW, THEREFORE, |

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

|
Florida: |

That the East Boynton Beach Little League Team is |

|
congratulated for winning the Little League United States |
29
|
Championship; honored for setting the standard for teamwork, |

|
sportsmanship, and friendship; and saluted for energizing the |
31
|
nation, the state, and, most especially, the residents and fans |
32
|
of Boynton Beach. |

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |

|
presented to the East Boynton Beach Little League United States |
35
|
Championship Team as a tangible token of the sentiments |
36
|
expressed herein. |
