3     Amendment (with title amendment)
4     Between lines 166 and 167, insert:
5     Section 2.  (1)  As used in this section, the term "health
6care practitioner" means a physician or physician assistant
7licensed under chapter 458, Florida Statutes; an osteopathic
8physician or physician assistant licensed under chapter 459,
9Florida Statutes; a chiropractic physician licensed under
10chapter 460, Florida Statutes; a podiatric physician licensed
11under chapter 461, Florida Statutes; an advanced registered
12nurse practitioner, registered nurse, or licensed practical
13nurse licensed under part I of chapter 464, Florida Statutes; a
14dentist or dental hygienist licensed under chapter 466, Florida
15Statutes; or a midwife licensed under chapter 467, Florida
16Statutes, who participates as a health care provider under s.
17766.1115, Florida Statutes.
18     (2)  Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 458, chapter
19459, chapter 460, chapter 461, part I of chapter 464, chapter
20466, or chapter 467, Florida Statutes, to the contrary, any
21health care practitioner who participates as a health care
22provider under s. 766.1115, Florida Statutes, and thereby agrees
23with a governmental contractor to provide his or her services
24without compensation and as an agent of the governmental
25contractor to low-income recipients in accordance with s.
26766.1115, Florida Statutes, for at least 80 hours a year for
27each year during the biennial licensure period, or, if the
28health care practitioner is retired, for at least 400 hours a
29year for each year during the licensure period, upon providing
30sufficient proof from the applicable governmental contractor
31that the health care practitioner has completed the hours at the
32time of license renewal under procedures specified by the
33Department of Health, shall be eligible for:
34     (a)  Waiver of the biennial license renewal fee for an
35active license; and
36     (b)  Fulfillment of a maximum of 25 percent of the
37continuing education hours required for license renewal under s.
38456.013(9), Florida Statutes.
39     Section 3.  Subsections (3) and (4) of section 381.00593,
40Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
41     381.00593  Public school volunteer health care practitioner
42program.--
43     (3)  For purposes of this section, the term "health care
44practitioner" means a physician licensed under chapter 458; an
45osteopathic physician licensed under chapter 459; a chiropractic
46physician licensed under chapter 460; a podiatric physician
47licensed under chapter 461; an optometrist licensed under
48chapter 463; an advanced registered nurse practitioner,
49registered nurse, or licensed practical nurse licensed under
50part I of chapter 464; a pharmacist licensed under chapter 465;
51a dentist or dental hygienist licensed under chapter 466; a
52midwife licensed under chapter 467; a speech-language
53pathologist or audiologist licensed under part I of chapter 468;
54a dietitian/nutritionist licensed under part X of chapter 468;
55or a physical therapist licensed under chapter 486.
56     (4)(a)  Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 458,
57chapter 459, chapter 460, chapter 461, chapter 463, part I of
58chapter 464, chapter 465, chapter 466, chapter 467, parts part I
59and X of chapter 468, or chapter 486 to the contrary, any health
60care practitioner who participates in the program established in
61this section and thereby agrees to provide his or her services,
62without compensation, in a public school for at least 80 hours a
63year for each school year during the biennial licensure period,
64or, if the health care practitioner is retired, for at least 400
65hours a year for each school year during the licensure period,
66upon providing sufficient proof from the applicable school
67district that the health care practitioner has completed such
68hours at the time of license renewal under procedures specified
69by the Department of Health, shall be eligible for the
70following:
71     1.  Waiver of the biennial license renewal fee for an
72active license; and
73     2.  Fulfillment of a maximum of 25 percent of the
74continuing education hours required for license renewal under,
75pursuant to s. 456.013(9).

77The school district may establish a schedule for health care
78practitioners who participate in the program.
79     (b)  A health care practitioner must complete all forms and
80procedures for participation in the program prior to the
81applicable license renewal date.

84     Remove lines 10-13 and insert:
85as health care providers; requiring the Department of Health to
86adopt certain rules to specify methods for determination and
87approval of patient eligibility; providing requirements for such
88rules; defining the term "health care practitioner"; providing
89for waiver of biennial license renewal fees and fulfillment of a
90portion of continuing education hours for specified health care
91practitioners who provide services, without compensation, to
92low-income recipients as agents of governmental contractors;
93amending s. 381.00593, F.S.; providing that for purposes of the
94public school volunteer health care practitioner program, a
95licensed dietitian/nutritionist is a health care practitioner;
