  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to school personnel; creating

  3         s. 1012.47, F.S.; requiring certain personnel

  4         in an alternative school that operates under

  5         contract with a district school system to file

  6         a set of fingerprints; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 1012.47, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         1012.47  Employment of alternative school

14  personnel.--All instructional and noninstructional personnel

15  who are hired to fill positions requiring direct contact with

16  students in an alternative school that operates under contract

17  with a district school system must, upon employment and

18  according to conditions of the contract, file a complete set

19  of fingerprints as required in s. 1012.32.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.

22          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

25  The committee substitute provides that all personnel having
    direct contact with a student in an alternative school under
26  contract with a district school system must be fingerprinted
    in accordance with s. 1012.32, F.S.
