1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to chop shops; amending s.
3 812.16, F.S.; including airbags and airbag
4 assemblies within the definition of the term
5 "major component part" for purposes of
6 provisions prohibiting the operation of a chop
7 shop and authorizing the seizure and forfeiture
8 of parts and vehicles; providing an effective
9 date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section
14 812.16, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
15 812.16 Operating chop shops; definitions; penalties;
16 restitution; forfeiture.--
17 (1) As used in this section, the term:
18 (b) "Major component part" means one of the following
19 subassemblies of a motor vehicle, regardless of its actual
20 market value: front-end assembly, including fenders, grills,
21 hood, bumper, and related parts; any airbag and airbag
22 assemblies; frame and frame assembly; engine; transmission;
23 T-tops; rear clip assembly, including quarter panels and floor
24 panel assembly; doors; and tires, tire wheels, and continuous
25 treads and other devices.
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
27 law.
