| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 12 |

| 13 | Section 1. Section 318.1216, Florida Statutes, is created |
| 14 | to read: |
| 15 | 318.1216 Trauma center preparedness.-- |
| 16 | (1) This section may be known by the popular name the |
| 17 | "Trauma Center Preparedness Act." |
| 18 | (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 318.121, a board |
| 19 | of county commissioners may require, by ordinance, that the |
| 20 | clerk of the court collect with each civil traffic penalty an |
| 21 | additional amount of up to $7, which shall be used to fund |
| 22 | state-approved trauma centers for unreimbursed costs. The |
| 23 | ordinance shall provide for the board of county commissioners to |
| 24 | administer the funds. The funds must be used for the |
| 25 | unreimbursed costs incurred by state-approved trauma centers, as |
| 26 | defined in s. 395.4001, for providing trauma services. |
| 27 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
