  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending

  3         Danielle White of Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, Danielle White was born February 2, 1992, in

  6  Cincinnati, Ohio, and has lived in Lakewood Ranch, Florida,

  7  with her family since age 5, and

  8         WHEREAS, Danielle has distinguished herself as an

  9  outstanding student at Braden River Elementary School,

10  maintaining a straight A average for the 2002-2003 school

11  year, achieving a national percentile rank of 99 for her

12  performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, and

13  receiving many awards for academic excellence, including the

14  President's Award for Academic Excellence, and

15         WHEREAS, blessed with intelligence, physical

16  coordination, creative imagination, and an enthusiasm for

17  self-expression, Danielle has shown remarkable talent as a

18  dancer, gymnast, actress, playwright, and gifted singer,

19  performing in many school and community events, including

20  American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraising campaigns

21  in Manatee and Sarasota counties, and

22         WHEREAS, after receiving voice lessons for less than a

23  year from hometown professional, Mariea Watkins, in May 2003,

24  Danielle, at age 11, embarked on a competitive journey with

25  2,000 children aged 6 to 13 participating in a nationwide

26  talent search sponsored by Fox Network in its new show,

27  "American Juniors," vying for selection to a new 5-member pop

28  singing group of the same name, and

29         WHEREAS, Danielle was selected as one of the 10

30  finalists by the panel of professional artists who served as

31  judges, and after singing "Never Had a Dream Come True" in a

 1  national broadcast on August 12, 2003, was selected by the

 2  record 8.2 million votes cast by callers as one of the new

 3  5-member pop singing group known as the "American Juniors,"

 4  each of whom has been awarded a contract with Fox to travel

 5  and perform throughout the United States and Europe for the

 6  next year, NOW, THEREFORE,

 7  

 8  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 9  

10         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends

11  Danielle White as a shining star among school-age children in

12  Florida, distinguished by her extraordinary accomplishments in

13  scholarship and the performing arts, bringing great pride to

14  the residents of Lakewood Ranch, Manatee County, and the State

15  of Florida.
