  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to notaries public; amending s.

  3         117.107, F.S.; permitting a notary public to

  4         notarize a signature of an immediate relative

  5         if the relative or the notary public is an

  6         attorney licensed by The Florida Bar; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Subsection (11) of section 117.107, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         117.107  Prohibited acts.--

14         (11)  A notary public may not notarize a signature on a

15  document if the person whose signature is to be notarized is

16  the spouse, son, daughter, mother, or father of the notary

17  public, unless the notary public or the person whose signature

18  is to be notarized is an attorney licensed to practice law in

19  this state.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

21  law.
