A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the City of Weston, Broward County;
3extending and enlarging the corporate limits of the City
4of Weston to include specified unincorporated lands within
5said corporate limits; providing for transfer of public
6roads and rights-of-way; providing an effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
9
10     Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of
11Weston, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged so as
12to include, in addition to the territory presently within its
13corporate limits, the area particularly described as follows:
14
15Portions of Sections 33, 34, 35 and 36, Township 49
16South, Range 39 East together with a portion of
17Section 31, Township 49 South, Range 40 East, together
18with portions of Sections 5 and 6, Township 50 South,
19Range 40 East all in Broward County, Florida, being
20more particularly described as follows:

22BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of said Section 34,
23Township 49 South range 39 East;

25THENCE Easterly on the North line of said Section 34
26to the intersection with a line 60.00 feet
27Northeasterly of and parallel with the South right-of-
28way line of the North New River Canal as shown on
29State of Florida Department of Transportation Right-
30of-Way Map for State Road 93 (Interstate 75), Section
3186075-2409, last dated November, 1994, said South
32right-of-way line also being labeled ?Baseline of
33Survey State Road 84? on said map;

35THENCE Southeasterly on said parallel line to the
36intersection with the Southwesterly projection of the
37South edge of the L-35A Levee;

39THENCE Northeasterly on said projection to the
40intersection with the North right-of-way line of the
41North New River Canal and a corner of the Corporate
42Limits of the City of Sunrise;

44THENCE Southeasterly on said North right-of-way line
45of the North New River Canal and on the South
46Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise to the
47intersection with a line 100.00 feet West of and
48parallel with the East line of said Section 5,
49Township 50 South, Range 40 East, said point being the
50Northwest corner of a parcel of land annexed into the
51City of Sunrise as established and described in City
52of Sunrise Ordinance Number 269, recorded in Official
53Records Book 12802, Page 440 of the Public Records of
54Broward County, Florida;

56THENCE Southerly on said parallel line and on the West
57Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise as established
58and described in said Ordinance Number 269 to the
59intersection with the South right-of-way line of State
60Road 93 (Interstate 75) and the North Corporate Limits
61of the City of Weston as established and described in
62State of Florida Legislature Bill Number 3130;

64THENCE Northwesterly on said South right-of-way line
65of State Road 93 (Interstate 75) as shown on Florida
66Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Maps for
67State Road 93 (Interstate 75) Section 86075-2409,
68sheets 1 through 16 and Section 86075-2420, sheet 8
69and on said North Corporate Limits of the City of
70Weston to the Northeast corner of a parcel of land
71annexed into the City of Weston as established and
72described in State of Florida 1999 Legislature House
73Bill 1565;

75THENCE continue Northwesterly on the North Corporate
76Limits of the City of Weston as established and
77described in said House Bill 1565 to the intersection
78with the East right-of-way line of Levee l-37 as shown
79on South Florida Water Management District Right-of-
80Way map for Levees L-33 and L-37, Drawing Number L-33-
811, sheet 1 of 1;

83THENCE Northeasterly on said Easterly right-of-way
84line of Levee 37 to the intersection with the North
85line of said Section 33, Township 49 South, Range 39
86East;

88THENCE Easterly on said North line of Section 33 to
89said Northwest corner of Section 34, Township 49
90South, Range 39 East and the POINT OF BEGINNING.

92     Section 2.  All public roads and the public rights-of-way
93associated therewith, on the Broward County road system, lying
94within the limits of the lands subject to annexation herein, as
95described in section 1, are transferred from Broward County
96jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality,
97except for county collector roads and all roads within the state
98highway system and any public rights-of-way associated therewith
99lying within the annexation area. All rights, title, interests,
100and responsibilities for any transferred roads, including, but
101not limited to, the ownership, operation, maintenance, planning,
102design, and construction of said roads, and to the rights-of-way
103associated therewith, shall transfer from Broward County
104jurisdiction and ownership to the jurisdiction and ownership of
105the annexing municipality upon the effective date of the
106annexation.
107     Section 3.  On the effective date of this act, the City of
108Weston shall be responsible for and embodied with all municipal
109powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes, over territory
110hereby annexed.
111     Section 4.  Nothing in this act shall be construed to
112affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
113whether the same be between Broward County and a third party or
114between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in effect
115prior to the effective date of annexation.
116     Section 5.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
