1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the City of Weston, Broward County;
3	extending and enlarging the corporate limits of the City
4	of Weston to include specified unincorporated lands within
5	said corporate limits; providing for transfer of public
6	roads and rights-of-way; providing an effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
9
10	Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of
11	Weston, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged so as
12	to include, in addition to the territory presently within its
13	corporate limits, the area particularly described as follows:
14
15	Portions of Sections 33, 34, 35 and 36, Township 49
16	South, Range 39 East together with a portion of
17	Section 31, Township 49 South, Range 40 East, together
18	with portions of Sections 5 and 6, Township 50 South,
19	Range 40 East all in Broward County, Florida, being
20	more particularly described as follows:

22	BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of said Section 34,
23	Township 49 South range 39 East;

25	THENCE Easterly on the North line of said Section 34
26	to the intersection with a line 60.00 feet
27	Northeasterly of and parallel with the South right-of-
28	way line of the North New River Canal as shown on
29	State of Florida Department of Transportation Right-
30	of-Way Map for State Road 93 (Interstate 75), Section
31	86075-2409, last dated November, 1994, said South
32	right-of-way line also being labeled "Baseline of
33	Survey State Road 84" on said map;

35	THENCE Southeasterly on said parallel line to the
36	intersection with the Southwesterly projection of the
37	South edge of the L-35A Levee;

39	THENCE Northeasterly on said projection to the
40	intersection with the North right-of-way line of the
41	North New River Canal and a corner of the Corporate
42	Limits of the City of Sunrise;

44	THENCE Southeasterly on said North right-of-way line
45	of the North New River Canal and on the South
46	Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise to the
47	intersection with a line 100.00 feet West of and
48	parallel with the East line of said Section 5,
49	Township 50 South, Range 40 East, said point being the
50	Northwest corner of a parcel of land annexed into the
51	City of Sunrise as established and described in City
52	of Sunrise Ordinance Number 269, recorded in Official
53	Records Book 12802, Page 440 of the Public Records of
54	Broward County, Florida;

56	THENCE Southerly on said parallel line and on the West
57	Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise as established
58	and described in said Ordinance Number 269 to the
59	intersection with the South right-of-way line of State
60	Road 93 (Interstate 75) and the North Corporate Limits
61	of the City of Weston as established and described in
62	State of Florida Legislature Bill Number 3130;

64	THENCE Northwesterly on said South right-of-way line
65	of State Road 93 (Interstate 75) as shown on Florida
66	Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Maps for
67	State Road 93 (Interstate 75) Section 86075-2409,
68	sheets 1 through 16 and Section 86075-2420, sheet 8
69	and on said North Corporate Limits of the City of
70	Weston to the Northeast corner of a parcel of land
71	annexed into the City of Weston as established and
72	described in State of Florida 1999 Legislature House
73	Bill 1565;

75	THENCE continue Northwesterly on the North Corporate
76	Limits of the City of Weston as established and
77	described in said House Bill 1565 to the intersection
78	with the East right-of-way line of Levee l-37 as shown
79	on South Florida Water Management District Right-of-
80	Way map for Levees L-33 and L-37, Drawing Number L-33-
81	1, sheet 1 of 1;

83	THENCE Northeasterly on said Easterly right-of-way
84	line of Levee 37 to the intersection with the North
85	line of said Section 33, Township 49 South, Range 39
86	East;

88	THENCE Easterly on said North line of Section 33 to
89	said Northwest corner of Section 34, Township 49
90	South, Range 39 East and the POINT OF BEGINNING.

92	Section 2.  All public roads and the public rights-of-way
93	associated therewith, on the Broward County road system, lying
94	within the limits of the lands subject to annexation herein, as
95	described in section 1, are transferred from Broward County
96	jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality,
97	except for county collector roads and all roads within the state
98	highway system and any public rights-of-way associated therewith
99	lying within the annexation area. All rights, title, interests,
100	and responsibilities for any transferred roads, including, but
101	not limited to, the ownership, operation, maintenance, planning,
102	design, and construction of said roads, and to the rights-of-way
103	associated therewith, shall transfer from Broward County
104	jurisdiction and ownership to the jurisdiction and ownership of
105	the annexing municipality upon the effective date of the
106	annexation.
107	Section 3.  On the effective date of this act, the City of
108	Weston shall be responsible for and embodied with all municipal
109	powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes, over territory
110	hereby annexed.
111	Section 4.  Nothing in this act shall be construed to
112	affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
113	whether the same be between Broward County and a third party or
114	between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in effect
115	prior to the effective date of annexation.
116	Section 5.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
