| 1 | A bill to be entitled |
| 2 | An act relating to the practice of surveying and mapping; |
| 3 | requiring the Department of Business and Professional |
| 4 | Regulation to reinstate and reissue certain licenses to |
| 5 | practice surveying and mapping if specified circumstances |
| 6 | and qualifications are met by the applicant; requiring |
| 7 | that an application be submitted to the Board of |
| 8 | Professional Surveyors and Mappers as prescribed by rule; |
| 9 | providing for an application fee; providing for expiration |
| 10 | of the act; providing an effective date. |

| 12 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 13 |
|
| 14 | Section 1. (1) The Department of Business and |
| 15 | Professional Regulation shall reinstate and reissue the license |
| 16 | by July 1, 2005, of each individual whose license to practice |
| 17 | surveying and mapping under chapter 472, Florida Statutes, has |
| 18 | become null if all of the following circumstances and |
| 19 | qualifications are met: |
| 20 | (a) The individual's license was scheduled to be renewed |
| 21 | during the biennium period beginning in 2001. |
| 22 | (b) The license of the individual was in good standing at |
| 23 | the time of the beginning of the renewal cycle. |
| 24 | (c) The individual properly petitioned the department for |
| 25 | relief relating to the circumstances under which the license |
| 26 | became null. |
| 27 | (d) During the period that the license was null, the |
| 28 | individual did not commit a felony, violate a practice act, or |
| 29 | engage in unlicensed activity for which a penalty is imposed. |
| 30 | (2) The individual must submit an application to the Board |
| 31 | of Professional Surveyors and Mappers for reinstatement in a |
| 32 | manner prescribed by rules of the board and pay the appropriate |
| 33 | application fee in an amount equal to the fee currently imposed |
| 34 | for initial licensure. |
| 35 | (3) This act expires July 1, 2005. |
| 36 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
