  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending the Oak

  3         Gators Flag Football Team for winning the Let

  4         It Fly Flag Football 15 and Under National

  5         Championship.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, the 2003 Oak Gators Flag Football Team is made

  8  up of young men who are 13 to 15 years of age and members of

  9  the Boys and Girls Club of Lee County, Florida, and

10         WHEREAS, players are: Jamal Rogers, age 14,

11  quarterback/safety; Chuck Rodriguez, age 13, center/rusher;

12  Jamal Temple, age 14, wide receiver/defensive back; Ervin

13  Kent, age 14, wide receiver/defensive back; Jermaine Johnson,

14  age 15, wide receiver/defensive back; and Michael Elliot, age

15  13, wide receiver/defensive back; and the coaches are: Head

16  Coach LeDondrick Rowe, and Assistant Coach Torrance McCray,

17  and

18         WHEREAS, in the 2003 flag football season, the team

19  achieved an overall win-loss record of 32-4, including a

20  win-loss record of 18-4 against teams participating in the Let

21  It Fly Flag Football competition, culminated by winning the

22  Let It Fly Flag Football 15 and Under National Championship

23  Tournament in Lakeland, Florida, on May 25, 2003, by coming

24  from behind in the closing minutes of the semifinal game to

25  beat the Bradenton Terminators by a score of 28-27, and

26  dominating the Jacksonville Knights in the National

27  Championship game to win by a score of 31-6, and

28         WHEREAS, the team's accomplishments in winning the 2003

29  Let It Fly Flag Football 15 and Under National Championship

30  brings distinctive honor to the State of Florida and its

31  citizens, especially those who reside in Lee County, Florida,

 1  and who are members and supporters of the Boys and Girls Club

 2  of Lee County, by exemplifying the competitive excellence a

 3  group of young men can attain through combining their talents

 4  and disciplining themselves to work together toward achieving

 5  success in playing the game of football, NOW, THEREFORE,

 6  

 7  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 8  

 9         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends the

10  2003 Oak Gators Flag Football Team for its outstanding

11  accomplishments in winning the 2003 Let it Fly Flag Football

12  15 and Under National Championship.

13         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

14  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the 2003

15  Oak Gators Flag Football Team as a token of the sentiments of

16  the Florida Senate.
