1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Florida Institute for
3 Nuclear Security; creating the Florida
4 Institute for Nuclear Security at the
5 Department of Nuclear Engineering and
6 Radiological Sciences at the University of
7 Florida; specifying the purpose of the
8 institute; authorizing the institute to accept
9 funds and grant allocations; providing an
10 effective date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14 Section 1. Florida Institute for Nuclear Security.--
15 (1) The Florida Institute for Nuclear Security is
16 created at the Department of Nuclear Engineering and
17 Radiological Sciences at the University of Florida. The
18 purpose of the institute is to conduct research and perform
19 other activities to identify and develop technologies to
20 improve nuclear security and promote nuclear nonproliferation.
21 (2) The Florida Institute for Nuclear Security may
22 accept funds and grant allocations from federal, state, and
23 local government and private entities for the purpose of
24 conducting research and development in the area of nuclear
25 security technology.
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
