2 A resolution celebrating the 100th Anniversary
3 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

5 WHEREAS, on October 20, 1903, in Utica, New York, the
6 Knights of Columbus organized a group of Catholic women to
7 establish the Catholic Daughters of the Americas to develop
8 and share their God-given talents through implementation of
9 creative programs that advance the religious, charitable, and
10 educational values of the Catholic Church to strengthen the
11 spiritual well-being of all people, and
12 WHEREAS, membership in the Catholic Daughters of the
13 Americas is made up of Catholic women 18 years of age and
14 older who embrace the principle of living their faith in God
15 by working to foster and promote justice, equality, the
16 advancement of human rights, and human dignity for all people,
17 and
18 WHEREAS, in the first 100 years of its existence, the
19 Catholic Daughters of the Americas has evolved from its
20 founding group, identified as Utica Court #1, to the largest
21 organization of Catholic women in the Americas, with the
22 Courts established throughout the 50 states, the District of
23 Columbia, Mexico, Siapan, Guam, the Virgin Islands, the
24 Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, and
25 WHEREAS, the work of Catholic Daughters of the Americas
26 has proven to be an invaluable asset to the communities in
27 which they exist, providing a seemingly inexhaustible source
28 of dynamic energy stimulating development of moral strength
29 and spiritual growth in those who are drawn to meaningful
30 involvement in their programs, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

3 That the Florida Senate celebrates the 100th
4 Anniversary of Catholic Daughters of the Americas for
5 enhancing the quality of life for all Floridians by providing
6 a vibrant source of compassionate caring to stimulate the
7 development of moral strength and spiritual growth to advance
8 justice, equality, human rights, and dignity for all people.
