| 4 | Between lines 760 and 761, insert: |
| 5 | Section 10. Subsection (2) of section 948.09, Florida |
| 6 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 7 | 948.09 Payment for cost of supervision and |
| 8 | rehabilitation.-- |
| 9 | (2) Any person being electronically monitored by the |
| 10 | department as a result of placement on community control shall |
| 11 | be required to pay as a surcharge an amount that may not exceed |
| 12 | the full cost of the monitoring service in addition to the cost |
| 13 | of supervision fee as directed by the sentencing court. The |
| 14 | department is authorized to contract with a private entity to |
| 15 | provide the services necessary to implement or to facilitate any |
| 16 | provision of this chapter. The department is authorized to |
| 17 | contract with a private entity for the collection and |
| 18 | disposition of the surcharge. Such contract may allow for |
| 19 | reasonable costs to the contractor associated with the |
| 20 | collection of the surcharge. The surcharge may shall be |
| 21 | deposited in the Operating Trust Fund to be used by the |
| 22 | department for purchasing and maintaining electronic monitoring |
| 23 | devices. |
