  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to arbitrator compensation;

  3         amending s. 44.103, F.S.; deleting an

  4         arbitrator compensation limitation under

  5         court-ordered, nonbinding arbitration;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 44.103, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         44.103  Court-ordered, nonbinding arbitration.--

13         (3)  Arbitrators shall be selected and compensated in

14  accordance with rules adopted by the Supreme Court.

15  Arbitrators may be compensated by the county or by the

16  parties. Compensation for arbitrators shall not exceed $200

17  per day, unless otherwise agreed by the parties and approved

18  by the court. Whenever possible, qualified individuals who

19  have volunteered their time to serve as arbitrators shall be

20  appointed. If an arbitration program is funded pursuant to s.

21  44.108, volunteer arbitrators shall be entitled to be

22  reimbursed pursuant to s. 112.061 for all actual expenses

23  necessitated by service as an arbitrator.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
