  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones;

  3         authorizing Walton County to apply for

  4         designation of an enterprise zone; providing

  5         application requirements; authorizing the

  6         Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

  7         Development to designate one zone,

  8         notwithstanding certain limitations; providing

  9         an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Enterprise zone designation for Walton

14  County.--Walton County may apply to the Office of Tourism,

15  Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one

16  enterprise zone within an area in Walton County which

17  encompasses up to 6 square miles.  The application must be

18  submitted by December 31, 2004, and must comply with the

19  requirements of section 290.0055, Florida Statutes, except

20  subsection (3) thereof. Notwithstanding section 290.0065,

21  Florida Statutes, limiting the total number of enterprise

22  zones designated and the number of enterprise zones within a

23  population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

24  Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone under

25  this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

26  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the

27  enterprise zone designated pursuant to this section.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
