8 | Section 12. Section 409.819, Florida Statutes, is amended |
9 | to read: |
10 | 409.819 Identification of low-income, uninsured children; |
11 | determination of eligibility for the Florida KidCare Kidcare |
12 | program; alternative health care information.--The Department of |
13 | Health shall develop a program, in conjunction with the |
14 | Department of Education, the Department of Children and Family |
15 | Services, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida |
16 | Healthy Kids Corporation, local governments, employers, and |
17 | other stakeholders, to identify low-income, uninsured children |
18 | and, to the extent possible and subject to appropriation, refer |
19 | them to the Department of Children and Family Services for |
20 | eligibility determination and provide parents with information |
21 | about choices of health benefits coverage under the Florida |
22 | KidCare Kidcare program. These activities shall include, but not |
23 | be limited to,: training community providers in effective |
24 | methods of outreach; conducting public information campaigns |
25 | designed to publicize the Florida KidCare Kidcare program, the |
26 | eligibility requirements of the program, and the procedures for |
27 | enrollment in the program; and maintaining public awareness of |
28 | the Florida KidCare Kidcare program. Special emphasis shall be |
29 | placed on the identification of minority children, including, |
30 | but not limited to, Hispanic, Haitian, and African-American |
31 | children, for referral to and participation in the Florida |
32 | KidCare Kidcare program. |
