11  Senator Siplin moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment 
14         On page 15, lines 8-31, delete those lines
15  
16  and insert:  
17         (2)  LEGISLATIVE INTENT.--
18         (a)  The Legislature finds that increased access to
19  health care services could improve children's health and
20  reduce the incidence and costs of childhood illness and
21  disabilities among children in this state. Many children do
22  not have comprehensive, affordable health care services
23  available.  It is the intent of the Legislature that the
24  Florida Healthy Kids Corporation provide comprehensive health
25  insurance coverage to such children. The corporation is
26  encouraged to cooperate with any existing health service
27  programs funded by the public or the private sector and to
28  work cooperatively with the Florida Partnership for School
29  Readiness.
30         (b)  It is the intent of the Legislature that the
31  Florida Healthy Kids Corporation serve as one of several

SENATE AMENDMENT Bill No. CS for SB 2000 Amendment No. ___ Barcode 470176 1 providers of services to children eligible for medical 2 assistance under Title XXI of the Social Security Act. 3 Although the corporation may serve other children, the 4 Legislature intends the primary recipients of services 5 provided through the corporation be school-age children with a 6 family income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, 7 who do not qualify for Medicaid.
