1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to public high schools;
3 requiring the Department of Education, with the
4 cooperation of the school districts, to develop
5 a standard profile for each public high school;
6 specifying the items to be included in the
7 profile; requiring the high schools to make the
8 profiles available for distribution to the
9 public by a specified date; providing an
10 effective date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14 Section 1. Standard school profile; contents;
15 distribution.--
16 (1) The Department of Education, with the cooperation
17 of the school districts, shall develop, for each public high
18 school in the state, a standard school profile that consists
19 of the following information:
20 (a) Data on college acceptance, including, but not
21 limited to, a listing of colleges, universities, and community
22 colleges, by the number of students accepted to each college,
23 university, and community college, and the number of students
24 that will attend each college, university, and community
25 college.
26 (b) The population of the school district and a
27 summary of economic data for the school district.
28 (c) The locations of school sites and the number of
29 students by grade level, including the number of students in
30 grade 12.

1 (d) The number and percentage of instructional
2 personnel, as defined in section 1012.01, Florida Statutes, by
3 type of degree, including bachelor's degree, master's degree,
4 specialist's degree, and doctoral degree; the average number
5 of years of experience for the instructional personnel; and
6 the ratio of instructional personnel to students.
7 (e) Course offerings, e.g., English, science,
8 mathematics, and advanced placement (AP) courses.
9 (f) AP examination results by subject, level, and
10 number of students tested, with a summary statement of the
11 average AP score for all tests taken for a given school year.
12 (g) Number of National Merit Finalists, National Merit
13 Commended Scholars, National Achievement Scholars, and
14 National Hispanic Scholars, with a 5-year summary of results.
15 (h) The ACT composite mean.
16 (i) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) I scores (verbal
17 and math means).
18 (j) SAT II scores--WR, MIC, and M2C means and ACT.
19 (k) Mid 50th-percentile range for SAT verbal and math
20 and ACT.
21 (l) High school graduation class SAT distribution for
22 verbal and math scores, including the total number of students
23 tested.
24 (m) High school graduation class ACT distribution,
25 including the total number of students tested.
26 (n) International and national ACT composite mean,
27 international and national SAT verbal and math means,
28 international grade point average (GPA) range, and
29 international mean GPA.
30 (o) Current accreditation held.

1 (p) A description of available academic and college
2 counseling assistance.
3 (q) Grade marking periods.
4 (r) High school graduation credit requirements.
5 (s) High school graduation class rank and GPA
6 computations for regular, honors, and AP classes.
7 (t) High school graduation class decile
8 characteristics, including information by decile.
9 (u) A GPA conversion chart for ranking purposes.
10 (2) Beginning August 1, 2006, each public high school
11 must annually make this profile available for distribution to
12 the public.
13 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
14 law.

17 SENATE SUMMARY
18 Requires the Department of Education, with the
cooperation of the school districts, to develop a
19 standard profile for each public high school. Specifies
the items to be included in the profile. Requires the
20 high schools to make the profiles available for annual
distribution to the public by August 1, 2006.
