11 Senator Aronberg moved the following amendment:

14 On page 2, lines 10-19, delete those lines

16 and insert: necessity that any information that would
17 identify or help to locate a child who participates in
18 government-sponsored recreation programs or camps or the
19 parents or guardians of such child, including, but not limited
20 to, the name, home address, telephone number, social security
21 number, and photograph of such child, the names, home
22 addresses, and social security numbers of the parents or
23 guardians of such child, be held exempt from public records
24 requirements because revealing such information could create
25 the opportunity for stalking, harassment, abduction, or abuse
26 of such children. Information that identifies a parent or
27 guardian of such a child could be used indirectly to lead to
28 the location of the child. As the public availability of this
29 information could create the opportunity for stalking,
30 harassment, abduction, or abuse of these children, it would be
31 contrary to the state's compelling interest in preserving the

1 public safety to permit the release of such information.
2 Protecting such personal information of these children and
3 their parents or guardians helps to minimize the opportunity
4 for stalking, harassment, abduction, or abuse and thus it is a
5 public necessity that such information be held confidential
6 and exempt from public records requirements.
