  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Jessie Trice Cancer

  3         Prevention Program within the Department of

  4         Health; amending s. 381.91, F.S.; expanding the

  5         program statewide; providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8  

  9         Section 1.  Subsections (2) and (3) of section 381.91,

10  Florida Statutes, are amended to read:

11         381.91  Jessie Trice Cancer Prevention Program.--

12         (2)(a)  There is created the Jessie Trice Cancer

13  Prevention Program, to be located, for administrative

14  purposes, within the Department of Health, and operated from

15  the community health centers within the Health Choice Network

16  in South Florida.

17         (b)  Funding shall will be provided to develop

18  contracts with community health centers and local community

19  faith-based education programs to provide cancer screening,

20  diagnosis, education, and treatment services to low-income

21  populations throughout the state. Pilot Programs have been

22  will be initially created in the communities of Goulds,

23  Naranja, Coconut Grove, Liberty City, and East Little Havana

24  in Dade County and Dunbar in Lee County and may be expanded

25  statewide thereafter.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.

      statewide. Deletes provisions limiting the program to
