1 Senate Resolution No. ____
2 A resolution commending Michael Hannaford and
3 Matthew Hannaford.

5 WHEREAS, Michael Hannaford, age 13, and Matthew
6 Hannaford, age 11, of Cape Coral, Florida, are on the right
7 course to achieving golfing excellence and physical fitness,
8 having come from an introduction to the sport in 2001 to being
9 considered among the best of the young men worldwide now
10 participating in the sport, and
11 WHEREAS, Michael Hannaford is now ranked in the 2009
12 Junior Golf Scoreboard Graduation Class as the No. 15 golfer
13 in Florida and the No. 125 golfer in the world, and Matthew
14 Hannaford is ranked in the 2011 Junior Golf Scoreboard
15 Graduation Class as the No. 1 golfer in Florida, and No. 3 in
16 the world, and
17 WHEREAS, through studious attention to golf
18 instruction, regular training in physical fitness and
19 strength-development workouts, and their daily practice
20 routines, Michael and Matthew have quickly developed the
21 ability to play golf at a highly competitive level, and
22 WHEREAS, Michael and Matthew have taken only three golf
23 lessons in their young lives and have become as good as they
24 are through determination and sheer will to learn every nuance
25 of the game and to master the techniques of the sport of golf,
26 and
27 WHEREAS, showing the results of their constant devotion
28 to developing skill and physical fitness to play the
29 competitive game of golf, in a recent Junior Players Tour
30 tournament in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Matthew won his age

1 division and Michael finished 5th in his age division, NOW,
2 THEREFORE,

4 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

6 That the Senate commends Michael Hannaford and Matthew
7 Hannaford for exemplifying the value of commitment and daily
8 practice in the techniques required to compete at the highest
9 possible level and for demonstrating the principles of the
10 Governor's initiative on physical fitness and obesity through
11 their involvement in and dedication to practicing the sport of
12 golf, thus serving as role models for the children of Florida
13 to emulate.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution,
15 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Michael
16 Hannaford and to Matthew Hannaford as a tangible token of the
17 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
