  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to powers of county

  3         governments; amending s. 316.008, F.S.;

  4         authorizing counties to require inspections of

  5         school buses and other vehicles transporting

  6         pupils; providing for application to vehicles

  7         not otherwise required to be inspected;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (7) is added to section 316.008,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         316.008  Powers of local authorities.--

15         (7)  A county may require inspections of all motor

16  vehicles that have a seating capacity of 24 or more pupils and

17  that are regularly used in the county for the transportation

18  of pupils to or from school or school activities; however, the

19  county's requirement for inspection shall not apply to any

20  vehicle that is required to be inspected by state law, rule of

21  a state agency, or the district school board.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.
