  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to health care; amending s.

  3         766.1115, F.S.; redefining the term

  4         "low-income" as it relates to access to health

  5         care services for low-income recipients;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Paragraph (e) of subsection (3) of section

11  766.1115, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

12         766.1115  Health care providers; creation of agency

13  relationship with governmental contractors.--

14         (3)  DEFINITIONS.--As used in this section, the term:

15         (e)  "Low-income" means:

16         1.  A person who is Medicaid-eligible under Florida

17  law;

18         2.  A person who is without health insurance and whose

19  family income does not exceed 200 150 percent of the federal

20  poverty level as defined annually by the federal Office of

21  Management and Budget; or

22         3.  Any client of the department who voluntarily

23  chooses to participate in a program offered or approved by the

24  department and meets the program eligibility guidelines of the

25  department.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
